Role Play - Facebook User Category

You are one of the 1.3 billion active Facebook users worldwide and with this huge amount of users I can't help but notice similarities. So I came up with an idea to create a blog that has a category and the characteristics of Facebook users based on their activities:

  • Most members are also members of the selfie-spammer category
  • comments ty [insert number of likers here].
    • e.g. "ty 358 <3"
*Not sure if legit likes or auto-likes

The Meme-holics

Characteristics:
  • Posts a meme instead of a simple comment
  • Will work willingly to edit a photo to be made as a meme

  • I bet you get this a lot, and you thought it was an important notif. haha
  • Always asks for help on their farm/city/energy and others
  • Invites you to join the game

The Bandwagoners

Characteristics:
  • Almost everyone is guilty, I am guilty of this
  • joins in on the latest social media trends as if already an expert

The Complete status legion

Characteristics:
  • Every status has either an emoticon, a feeling, a place, traveling to, eating, reading, watching.
  • tags everyone on their status
  • includes a photo sometimes

The #Hashtag#Hog

Characteristics:
  • Thinks Facebook is like Instagram or twitter
  • #TBT #YOLO #TBH #OOTD are some examples of their posts
  • Severe cases include hastaging word for word

The Selfie-spammer

Characteristics:
  • Last but not the least
  • Fastest growing category
  • posts mostly head shot photos
  • does some weird facial gestures
  • also an avid instagram user
  • has separate album for selfies

With that being said. What category do you belong?
or are you a multi-category user?
Disclaimer: This is all just for fun no shots fired at a specific person/group.

A Glimpse of Life After School

I remember way back when I was in kindergarten. We were asked what we wanted to be when we grow up. I would never forget my answer that day: "When I grow up, I want to be a pilot", and sure enough my hopes of becoming a pilot never materialized. Currently I am an intern in a corporate company in Cebu and yet to finish my degree in IT. Yeah, you read it right, IT as in Information Technology, so much for being a pilot.

In my stint as an intern I experienced a little taste of life in the real world and yes, you have almost zero time for yourself. I know it's just a small fraction of what is to come but nonetheless it's more or less the same. Although your mood towards your job depends totally on the person and the job but most of the time we don't get to choose our job. It's not as simple as picking out a job that you like and beym!, instant hiring at it's best. Unfortunately it's not like that, we take what is given. Then there is the moving to another place to find a job and if you're like me who lives in a province that has little or no big companies to work for, we go to big, dirty, and noisy cities others even go abroad to look for a job opportunity and having to adapt to this kind of lifestyle is not easy. I have been here in Cebu for about a month and I am totally missing home, my quiet, fresh and small home. Yeah, this sucks but we need to live with it if we are to survive in this battlefield known as life.

You probably think, is this all that there is after graduation? Your are not alone, I bet we think this because we are still in a transitional phase and that we are not used to having the same old routine over and over again. Come to think of it, there are also a lot of good things that come after you have graduated. You meet new people with personalities you have never encountered before; fresh new pages on your biography. Your goals (in a materialistic standpoint) that seem impossible are now much less impossible to attain, given you have an adequate salary for your daily living. We have free coffee, I don't about your future company or job but here in our company coffee is totally free and being a coffee guy this is a plus. Okay I admit the latter is quite irrelevant but still, it makes me happy. Only a few things in life are free, unless you go to a grocery store that offers free taste with each product that they sell. So at the end of the day it still up to you to find happiness in a somewhat monotonous environment.

The point is, life may not be as fun, as great and as wild back in college but college is just a training ground to hone your skills so you can fend for yourself in the harsh corporate world. Think of student life as a roller coaster, exciting but reckless, and work life as a carousel, steady but sure at least that's how I see it. You may not land your dream job but make the most out of what you are given. So enjoy all you want as a student while there is plenty of time, because time in life after school is as elusive as that pen and paper back in college.
